Welcome to Saurischia!
My name is Daniel Eskridge and this is my 3D art site. The term Saurischia refers to the one of the two orders of Dinosaurs. It includes the two legged carnivorous kind (like Velociraptor and Tyrannosaurus Rex) as well as the Sauropods (like Brachiosaurus). The other order Ornithischia includes the beaked herbivors like Triceratops and Hadrosaurus. I decided that I like the way Saurischia sounded better, so I picked it for my site's name.
Here you will find art (usually about dinosaurs) that I created using various computer applications that generate images by simulating the effects of light upon objects. This is a form of art known as 3D rendering. Sometimes it has also been called raytracing or even raycasting. (Technically rendering and raytracing are not exactly the same thing. Which one you are doing depends upon the internal algorithms of the application you are using. However, they produce virtually the same kind of images.)
Most of the images that I have created were produced using Vue d'Esprit, Poser, and Bryce. However, I also use POVRay and Blender from time to time to produce final renders. Also, I make heavy use of GIMP and Photoshop for post production.
I also dabble a bit in 3D modeling. That is, using Blender and Maya, I create virtual objects that can be imported into rendering applications for use in making 3d art. Many of these objects are available in my online store for others who wish to use them in their own renders. Also, I've taken a few of them a step further and converted them into Poser characters, posable figures of living creaturs - mostly dinosaurs of course.
